The CEO team met with Nick Bauer, the General Manager of the International Paper Lincoln Container Plant. In additional to talking with students about IP and its position in the market, he took the team out on the plant floor so they could see firsthand how the boxes are made.

Major brands like Scotts, Libman, Amazon, and Aldi contract with IP for their corrugated boxes. Next time you see a corrugated (not cardboard!) box, check the bottom to see where it was made. There's a good chance it will have been produced right here in Lincoln!

When considering potential hires, IP looks for people who value safety and respect, are reliable, and have a good attitude and work ethic. Everything else about the job can be taught.

Nick also shared his journey from high school to his current position. He has taken advantage of many unique opportunities over the years including internships and an education/work co-op. He advised students to try as many jobs, activities, and experiences as possible.

Thank you, Nick, for taking time to meet with the CEO team. It was fascinating to learn about the process and the people behind the International Paper Lincoln plant! (And thank you to CEO Board Member and Lincolnland Technical Education Center director Matt Puckett for escorting students on this visit!)
