Tom Franz of Integrity Data met with our young entrepreneurs to discuss the use of AI in a business setting. He asked students questions about using AI in an academic environment to get them thinking. Most schools have an AI Policy in place, but what about in business? When is it ok to use AI and when is it not? What is reasonable? What do students personally think about the use of AI? The answers from the class were varied, ranging from "I use AI as often as possible" to "I have a personal policy to never use AI."
Many businesses use tech tools to improve productivity and efficiency. With the introduction and improvements in AI, they are finding ways to lower costs and enable their employees to dedicate more time to "human" work. But does it always work as intended? Does your prompt ask the right question? Is it always accurate? Are all platforms the same? Is there bias involved? (It is, after all, a tool created by humans with their own ideas about how the world works.)
Sometimes this topic brings more questions than answers. Tom shared that he spends the majority of his day using AI tools in some way. But as the Director of Customer Experience, he emphasized the importance of always making sure a human is involved in the process.
Thank you, Tom, for sharing your time and expertise with CEO on this topic. So much food for thought!
