Today we talked with Amy Agee, Executive Director/Wellness Director of Arcadia Villas at Lincoln. As the director independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care facilities (skilled care opening later this year), Amy discussed topics ranging from regulatory requirements, managing a team, budgets, risk management, overseeing quality of care, and building trust with residents and their families.
After hearing all of what Amy does in her job, a student asked how she juggles all of it. Here is her advice:
Do the hardest thing first.
Have a rolling to-do list.
Wake up with the right mindset.
Realign yourself with your mission.
Amy summed up her mission: "I have a passion for seniors. They deserve the best!"
Amy also shared some general professional tips for students as they prepare to interview for future jobs: Be attentive, be eager, follow up on applications, and prepare your own questions to make sure the job is a good fit for you.
