What is it like working for a Silicon Valley startup? Matt Corbin described his journey from a corporate position to the fast-paced environment of a start-up, which was ultimately acquired by Moody's Analytics.
The conversation ranged from design thinking, value extraction, venture capital, early adopters, startup compensation models, tips for effective pitches, and the best ways to approach the use of AI in a business environment. It was a lot to take in, but Matt reminded students that no matter what kind of business you are starting, you should start with discovery to answer questions around value, usability, feasibility, and viability.
"The biggest mistake people make is being afraid to fail. It's better to "fail fast" rather than to build and build, only to find out your product doesn't hit the mark."
We really appreciate Mr. Corbin's insights and advice, especially around this time when our students are getting ready to launch their own products and services. Thank you for sharing your expertise with CEO!
