Touring AG-Land FS was a very different tour then most. It was interesting to see how some employees within FS are really like their own boss. We saw how you don’t have to necessarily own your own business to “own” what you do. For some it is a lot like having their own business because they handle everything about their position. They have to know their customers and treat them well to keep them coming back.

Tuesday we had a business visit with Kelly Alyesworth. Kelly was very open with how the process of starting up her business went and what led her there. Kelly told us about how she learned how to be a dog groomer by job shadowing for someone and suggested that we all try to work for someone else first before opening our own business. I think working for someone else is really important so that you can see how to run a business from an employee’s point of view.

Tuesday was our visit with Jules Mason. I had a great time on that visit because it was relatable and I felt like we had the opportunity to ask more personalized questions. She gave me some hope for myself to run a business because she didn't go to college for business but is still able to run a great store. I felt like if she can do it than so can I. She said “don't lose focus of what you want” and “do what you have a passion for.” Both of those things I will always remember.

My favorite visit we went on was with Heather Cosby from Flossie and Delzena’s.
Heather talked about how she had to bend to her target and basically just go with the
flow to get to where she is now.
