Today the students visited the Logan County Courthouse and met with Illinois 11th Circuit Judge Jonathan Wright, Logan County, Illinois Clerk and Recorder Theresa Moore, and Katie Wright.

Judge Wright met with students in the historic courtroom on the third floor where he explained his role in judicial system, how he got to where he is today, the role of the courts for entrepreneurs, and about the kinds of cases he hears each week. (He was slated to hear 110 cases today!)

Students then moved to the Logan County Clerk and Recorder Office where they got to see the records vault that holds all the older documents like deeds and birth certificates for Logan County. Theresa Moore also explained the duties of her office, including overseeing elections. The office is currently set up for early voting for the presidential primary slated for March 19th. Get more info about early voting here: logancountyil.gov

Did you know? Students can apply to be student election judges. If you know a student age 16 or older that would be interested, contact the County Clerk's office for more information!

Katie Wright presented our young entrepreneurs with an explanation of the process to file a DBA (or "Doing Business As"). So now when they are ready, students can register their business in the county in which they reside.

Thank you for taking time at the beginning of your very busy day to talk with CEO!
