When you are faced with decisions about choosing a career, how do you know you are making the right choice? Shane Remmert of Crawford, Murphy & Tilly visited with our students this morning. In addition to discussing his role at CMT and his assignment as the Lincoln City Engineer, he talked about how to learn from your professional journey. As a high school and college student, Shane held a variety of jobs: mowing yards, detasseling, working at a pharmacy, loading traps at a sports club, completing a summer internship at a coal mine, among others. Each experience taught him about himself and helped him figure out what kind of work he would find fulfilling.

Shane asked students to consider what they would like in a career. Do you enjoy helping customers? Does physical labor appeal to you? Would you prefer to work outside? Do you like being part of a team? What kinds of activities are you naturally drawn to? Knowing the answer to these kinds questions can help you make smart decisions for your future - including what kinds of business you might develop as an entrepreneur.

This is hot topic for teens. When we polled students during our CEO recruiting season, their number one reason to consider the program was to "Figure out my future." It's important!

We appreciate your insights, Shane. Thank you for taking time to talk with our team today!
