❤️❤️❤️ CEO Valentine's Day visit was to Chuck and Adrien's Group Home Daycare Adrien McFadden has been offering childcare to the Lincoln area since 2004. Her husband Chuck joined her as a caregiver in 2006. Chuck is a familiar face for our students since he works with athletes at LCHS. He is now the Children's Minister at Lincoln Christian Church and the daycare employs a full-time.

In addition to explaining how they keep a dozen kids happy, healthy, and safe everyday, Adrien talked about the ways government regulation plays a role in her business. As a DCFS licensed daycare, she must comply with certain requirements: CPR training, continuing education, background checks, and property inspections to name a few. She also participates in USDA programs which require documentation.
While licensure requires a lot of effort, it also offers rewards in the form of grants, eligibility for other programs, and the ability to serve more families.

Students were curious about how things have changed for Adrien since opening the daycare. She described one of the differences between the early years and now. "When I first started out, my clients were older than me. I had a hard time enforcing policies, especially around payments. Now I'm older (and sassier 😉 ) and it's not a problem."

Running a daycare involves long hours, but Adrien says this career was a very intentional choice. It has allowed her to stay home with her children and work with her husband, which she wouldn't be able to do otherwise.

At the end of the visit, CEO students passed out Valentines to littles. 🥰So many smiles! 😊

Thank you for hosting CEO this morning!
